Hearts United for Good ("HUG," "HUGCLT," "we," "us") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located at 1124 Central Ave, Charlotte, NC 28204. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect information when you visit hugclt.org, book a pantry appointment, volunteer, donate, attend our events, or receive text messages from us.

 

Information We Collect

• Information you provide: name, email address, phone number, mailing address, household details needed for pantry services, volunteer availability, event RSVPs, and donation details.

• Information collected automatically: basic website usage data (pages visited, browser type, approximate location) through cookies and our website provider's analytics.

• Online donations are processed by our payment providers; HUG does not store full card numbers.

 

How We Use Your Information

• To provide food assistance and community services and to manage pantry appointments

• To coordinate volunteers and invite you to HUG events

• To process donations and send receipts

• To respond to your questions and keep you informed about HUG's work

• To send text messages you have agreed to receive (see Text Messaging below)

• To meet legal, tax and reporting requirements

 

Text Messaging (SMS)

If you give HUG your mobile number and agree to receive text messages, we use it only to send messages about pantry appointments, volunteering and HUG events, and to reply to you. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Information may be shared with service providers that help us operate our messaging and services (such as our phone provider) solely to deliver those services. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only:

• with service providers that help us operate (for example website hosting, phone and messaging, donation processing and email), who may use it only to provide those services to HUG;

• when required by law, or to protect the safety of our clients, volunteers and staff.

 

Data Security & Retention

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, and keep it only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law.

 

Your Choices

You can ask us to update or delete your information, or stop receiving emails or texts from us, at any time. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, reply STOP to any text, or contact us below.

 

Children's Privacy

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13.

 

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it was last changed.
